It was a turn right sort of day but again we were in no hurry to get going even if our bodies had been in a condition to move quickly. Karen decided to drop the Codydramol today and just go with a Meloxicam which seemed to work for her.
We ambled slowly and by the time we reached Dos Mil, Karen was needing a break. We continued with the 2025 role reversal with me queuing for the hot drinks whilst Karen was on table watch. As before she doesn’t seem to be able to scan more than one table at a time. She grabbed the worst table at the back and despite being in the queue I managed to grab the best one at the front and had to wave for her to move. Honestly if you want a job doing…
After a much shorter break this time we carried on our amble until we got to the Dahlia shop where Karen made her annual purchase of the Spanish perfume that she really likes that she can only buy over here. With a happy wife we carried on down to the harbour and found a bench at the very end.
As we sat there out of nowhere there was a short shower of rain, and we huddled under the brolly Karen had brought with her to shelter from the sun.
We thought it was a sign we should find somewhere to grab something for lunch. We picked a place that was still advertising breakfast items down by the harbour. Karen had a tuna sandwich, and I had a small Irish breakfast. Mine was quite tasty but Karen didn’t think much of hers. The service was quite gruff to say the least. I paid using my watch. As we left the waiter asked where his tip was and I just shrugged my shoulders and said, ‘no cash’ and walked off. I know all the arguments about tipping and everywhere else we have either left cash or asked them to add it on when paying by card. However, it should be earned by good service, and it was really quite poor here and I was certainly not going to embarrassed into paying it. It’s not as if we would ever choose ot go in there again.
The walk back starts with a couple of steep inclines. By the time we got to the 5-star Hotel Fariones Karen needed another stop and so we went in and grabbed a lovely table outside. The waiter took our order for some hot drinks, and we sat there for ages wallowing in the luxurious surroundings. We felt it was very us. The hotel reminded us of some of the Disney Hotels we have visited, with similar prices starting at £350 per night.

On a table behind Karen a German man sat down and ordered himself a beer. Then to my amusement he decided to put on some sunglasses that looked as if he had bought then from a Minion costume shop. I discretely took a photo to show to Karen who got the giggles. I suppose they could be the height of fashion in the Bavarian Alps, but they certainly made us laugh.

After probably overstaying our time there we started the walk back having a couple of stops on route on benches overlooking the sea.
It was glorious back on our balcony where we chilled before wandering out again for dinner. We may have finished off the Vina Sol before leaving.
Being creatures of habit, we headed back to Pinocchio’s again. Karen decided there was enough on the menu that she would rather go somewhere she knew and trusted. It was good to see Pinocchio restored back in his proper spot at the entrance after a spell in ‘hospital’ having his broken wooden leg fixed.
We both went for Chicken after we had shared some expensive sizzling Garlic prawns. All was very good quality. Karen then said that she didn’t want to have any more drinks for the sake of it and staying out longer and preferred to go back which we did. It was noticeable on the way back that the bars and restaurants were all quite quiet as if we were in the lull between seasons. We liked it.
After a disturbed night’s sleep caused again by my back it was then our final full day in Lanzarote this trip. As we headed out after breakfast the weather was cloudy but without any breeze at all. We turned left again towards Matagorda and Karen was determined to have fewer stops today.
We didn’t get far at all stopping for a coffee to fuel her walk at Karma literally outside of the apartment block. It was very relaxing, but we decided to carry on before it got too hot as the sun baked away the clouds.
Next stop was for Karen to reapply copious amount of sun cream on herself even though she had already done so before leaving.
Determinedly we eventually made it after 2 more stops to O’Sheas where we found a table in the shade and ordered the usual. Well, I did but Karen controversially had pancakes which were deemed a success.
After contently sitting there watching people watching and plane watching we set off for the trudge home. Karen was in pain with her right leg which she hadn’t suffered with before. Eventually and after many stops on benches we made it back after I nipped into Spar and bought a bottle of Cava to drink on the balcony.
The Cava went down rather too well, and we both felt rather squiffy as we headed out for our dinner at 7.15pm. For our last meal, Karne had decided we should go to – Pinocchio’s, again. I had the Tipica Pizza again whilst Karen went for a Shrimp Omelette. We shared some Canarian Potatoes as a starter.

And with that our Lanzarote trip for 2025 was all but complete. It had been complete with some pain and aggravation but worth it. We love the weather and the walks. We agreed that a week is long enough for us, but we do feel we were cheated out of the first day by having a later flight that was then delayed. We have already provisionally booked accommodation for a trip next year in March which we may move as I do not want commit to flights etc until the Football fixture list is published mid-June when as we are flexible, I will move it forward or back if necessary.
